I just got back from Qi-Gong boot camp(in a nice and chilled way) in Mallorca.(please see my other blog) I was looking forward to eat some cakes, I even did detox for it!! well, I just ate even more healthier, that's all. The patisserie in Polensa was as fab as usual, I could see the old guy( the pastry chef) in the back kitchen with his chefs. Oh, one day, I would like to satarge(not sure how to spell... I think it supposed to be French) for a month or so. just have a look how he does it!! Oh, sounds very dangerous.....anyway, theses were cakes... We popped in the afternoon( after siesta) , not a lot left...., still, I bought Lemon meringue pie and apple tart. they were sexy!!!
These are one of the best cakes I ever had, perfect texture, sweetness from meringue and very lemony lemon curd in the middle, and crunchy pate sucre, I was dreaming about this cake for nearly a year. I think he brow torched it on the top of the meringue. On the third day, I had lemon meringue and strawberry tart. Unfortunately, by eating those cakes, clogged up my system. I didn't eat any more. Gutted!☹ Never mind, I really really enjoyed eating them anyway. I hadn't had that much enjoyment for ages. Oh, tell a lie, booja-booja choc truffles give me the same eupholicness. That's enough of cake talks now! We had some salady things in the evenings. Also, we did B.B.Qs for 2 nights. Rachel, Sam and me had veggie/vegan skewers. Andy and Luke had fish and prawns. I made some sun dried tomato(the best sun dried toms ever!) pesto(without cheese of course!) for our dish and salad. Luke made some chili sauce. Cor, blimey, it was nice and spicy!
Our veggie skewers were: aubergine, courgette, cherry toms, shallots, garlic, peppers! We also b.b.qed whole green pepper( long ones) too. I like mine cruntcy. Full of flavour than ones we get here. There was a little health food shop down in the Polensa. We bought some veggie pates, rice cakes, gluten free flat bread etc... Oh, I found sugar free/dairy free choc too! Love going to nice health food shop. Makes me want to cook!!! On Sunday morning in the Polensa, they have fantastic market. Locals shop there. Water melons were absolutely huge! I love water melon, but didn't buy one. Too heavy to climb up the Puig with it. Anyway, I took some photos.
My Sunday morning naughty breakfast in the market.
Massive water melon...
On the Sunday evening, we ate out in a restaurant there. Rachel and Sam had veggie paella, Andy and Luke had regular paella. I had traditional Mallorcan veggie dish. Oh, the dish was divine. Didn't look very appetising, but very rustic, taste like home cooking and veggies had intense flavour. It was called....oh, I don't remember... anyway, baked with some slice potatoes( I would imagine cooked first.) layered with aubergine, red onions, courgettes and plenty peppers with yummy tomato sauce. (I added olives on top) Sam and Rachel tasted my dish, they liked it too. Paella was nice but bit greasy. we(me and Rachel) agreed that paella we had in the Puig was yummier. I can defo say, I prefer paella in the Puig. Anyway, these are what we had.
These are Andy and Luke's paella. Smelt gorgeous if you like the sort of thing.
these are Rachel and Sam's paella. And this is what I had.
Oh, on our second day I think, we had light lunch at the puig. I had salad. And, it was even better! Reminded me Greek salad I had in Pillion....
Simple salad with good extra virgin olive oil, full of flavour and fresh vegetables! The best!!!!
