I knew that I had an addictive personality that was why I ended up in reharb in Suffolk in 2005.
Now, I'm dealing with my addiction again being clean, now it appearant I found dealing with my sugar addiction real hard. Raw plant based vegan diet helps me lots, also the same time, I love cooked food. Roasted veggies and cooked beans, enjoying different flavours and textures not only nutrients.
I looked lots of raw desserts recipes, they all look delicious and I'm sure they taste awesome too. But for me, they look too much like regular desserts, I need something completely looking different.
Here's my problems. When I see beautiful desserts like that, my brain relates to what I used to eat and re-create the taste in my head. And my head started telling me to eat desserts, I get sugar cravings just looking at them. Thing is, quite often raw vegan "cheese cakes" for instance, takes long time to set in the fridge, so end up walking desserts isles in supermarket for ages. Fighting with my head/addiction.
So, I need to change and name of desserts, re-educate my brain....that's what I've been doing for last 6 months. And hard. I gave up lots of things, alcohol, class-A drugs (which I was dependent on), tobacco/cigarette, meat, sea foods, and on my way to give up dairy, sugar and wheat. I don't usually eat anyway, once start, I just can't seem to stop... Cakes, I found cakes still too attractive.....
Still, if I have something like this (see below), it usually calm my blood sugar level, and I don't get too much cake thoughts....
Raspberry and coconut energy nozballs
Raspberry and coconut energy nozballs:
500g pitted organic dates
50g organic desiccated coconuts
100g cashew nuts
1/2 cup dried raspberry
drop of vanilla oil/extract
In food processor, process nuts till almost oily. then add half of coconut, pause a few times. Take it out into a bowl. Now, process the dates, if they are slightly dries and hard, chop them small 1 by 1 (time consuming but need to be done). This makes sure pitted dates are all pitted. sometimes, they still pits in them...
Next, process the dates till really soft and into a ball in the machine. Add the nuts mixture, vanilla and raspberry, continue pause a few times.
Then into bowl, kneed, then make 25g balls. This makes about a couple of dozens.
This is my favo nik-naks. I tried so many different things in them, but this worked very well and yummy.
To make chocolate flavour ones, will upload later.
Also, I've been drinking green juice a bit. Mix my green powders with my green juice. It really helps my sugar addiction. And I feel energetic! My workmate actually asked what I had on my tea break this morning at work. I was a nicely chilled and hyper, concentrated with work, I did felt different after taking this:
2 celery sticks
1/2 cucumber
1/2 apple
1 tblspn protein mix(sprouted brown rice, hemp, spirillina, maca)
1 teaspn Chlorella
1 teasp Barley powder
1 teaspn babao powder
1/2 teaspn calcium powder
Mix all, if it's too thick, add some spring water
Also, I try to eat my breakfast. I tend to skip breakfast. I don't like to eat first thing in the morning. So, I take pack breakfast. Or I leave good honestly made porridge at work, all I need to take or buy is oat milk. I sometimes make my porridge with just hot water. Or I take things like this:
Fruits with cashew cream or puffed oats/rice, fruits with cashew cream. I make the cream slightly runny with puffed oats/rice etc. I make them night before, shove them in my fridge till morning.
Recent hit juice was fruits i was given by my friend Brian who has allotment near by. Him and his wife were retired couple, a bit hippy. He likes drinking good ales (not too much, only a few pints), in a fork band, his wife Jan works at the local theater. They invited me to their allotment while they were away to west country. I got loads of plums, blackberries, raspberries, kale and so on. I made autumn juice. This was yummy.
6 victoria plums
2 med apples
1/3 beetroot
all into juice extractor
Noz's autumn fruits juice
Doesn't it look pretty!
